Symposium on the topic “Religious Tolerance in Upbringing Humanity,” held on 27th of February, 2015 at MSC Auditorium

The stage was all set to begin with the invocation of the Lord’s assistance by Bro. Somnath Murmu. The previous report was read by the president after which the assembly passed the report unanimously. The agenda of the day was declared as Symposium on the topic “Religious Tolerance in Upbringing Humanity.” The chairperson of the day was Bro. Pradeep Surin. The judges were Bros. Anthony Lepcha, Gabriel Mukhia and Milon Murmu. The timekeeper was Bro. Ronald Rai. The Third Year Philosophers were the participants every speaker dwelled on different topics namely – Bro. Arun Raj gave the Introduction, Bro. Sephaniel on the Causes, Bro. Jop Pyrtuh on the Society, Bro. Francis Hembrom on the Politics, Bro. Masi Hasda on the Events, Bro. Danish Lepcha on its Solution and Bro. Sanjay Minj gave the Conclusion.
The moderator of the Academy, Fr. B L Mathai acknowledged their hard work. He observed that quality improvement in the presentation of the paper was a plus point when compared to the previous sessions. Besides, he advised that there are still rooms for betterment. The day ended as usual with a prayer.

Debate for Group “B” of the Second Year Philosophers held on 16th January, 2015 at MSC Auditorium
The first session of the year commenced with the invocation of God’s assistance with a hymn to the Holy Spirit by Bro. Stany Lepcha along with Bro. Gabriel Mukhia who played the guitar. The day was blessed with the presence of the moderator of the English Academy and the scholastics of the philosophy department. The President welcomed the assembly after which he read out the previous report of the academy and invited the Chairperson, Bro. Sanjay Minj and the judges namely Bro. Xalxo Prakash, Bro. Tudu Saphaniel and Bro. Mandi Gabriel to the dais.
Having proposed the agenda of the day the stage was given over to the Chairperson by the President to coordinate the participants of debate which dwelled on the Topic: “Facebook is more of a Boon than a Bane to society.” A relevant subject matter to discuss upon on its pros and cons in today’s society. The introduction was given by Bro. Michael and the names of the brothers “For the Motion” were Charles, Leo, Jitendra, and Lawrence whereas the names of the brothers “Against the Motion” were Anselam, Barnabas, Sarojit, and Joseph. At the end Bro. Benedict took the privilege to make the conclusion of the debate. The debate was put to vote and the house unanimously declared the team “For the Motion” as the icon of the day. Besides, some of the brothers came forward to share their viewpoints about the topic on diverse perspectives.
Rev. Fr. B L Mathai, the Moderator of the English Academy came forward to say a few words of appreciation to the Chairperson, the judges and the debaters of the day for their painstaking efforts to excel which led them to exhibit an edifying performance on the stage. He not only appreciated but also reiterated them to display the agenda of the day before the gathered assembly for the betterment and wellbeing of all on a board.
