Philosophers’ English Academy

The Report of the English Academy held on 21st November, 2014 in the MSC Auditorium
The session of the day commenced with a short prayer led by Bro. Sushanto which was followed by a melodious bhajan sung by Bro. Sushanto who was accompanied by Bro. Lazarus on the tabla. The President of the Academy read out the previous report after which he extended a hearty welcome to the assembly gathered for the day. He presentedthe agenda of the day: Extempore Speech which wason various topics such as ‘Beauty is in the eyes of the beholder,’ ‘Why a sense of humor is important?’ and so forth. The Chairperson of the session was Bro. Arun Raj. The judges were Bro. RajenKujur, Sanjay Kisku and Sunil Hansda.
Fr. B L Mathai, the Moderatoracknowledged the speakers for their creativity in thinking, articulation, and projection of ideas and insights.Besides, he suggested that Extempore Speech must be either for the Third Years or Second Years and be kept at the end of the academic year. Itwas indeed a memorable day. The session came to an end with a short prayer of thanksgiving by the President. It was a happy ending.

The Report of the English Academy 
Held on 17th October, 2014 in the MSC Auditorium


The much-awaited session of the day kicked off with a short prayer led by the Secretary of the day, Bro. Conrad. It was followed by a melodious bhajan sung by Bro. Sushanto who was accompanied by Bro. Lazarus on the tabla. The President of the Academy read out the previous report after which he extended a hearty welcome to the assembly gathered for the day. He presentedthe agenda of the day: Debate on the Topic: “The Use of Mobile does more harm than good to a Seminarian.”The Chairperson of the session was Bro. Anthony Lepcha. The judges were Bro. Arun Raj, Bro. Patrick Rai and Bro. Sanjay Minj. The general introduction for the debate was given by Bro. Jayram. The debaters For the motion were Bro. Raymond, Bro. Mathius, Bro. Samuel and Bro. Milon whereas the debaters Against the motion were Bro. Sandip, Bro. Rajen, Bro. Raju and Bro. Prateet.The judges and the assembly adjudged the latter debaters as the best in the Debate.
Rev. Fr. B L Mathai, the Moderator, expressed his words of appreciation to the competitors for their commendable preparation, good presentation and lively Rebuttal. The motion was put to vote and was defeated unanimously. The opponent virtually carried the day.
The session came to an end with a short prayer of thanksgiving by the President. It was a happy ending.
